Thoughts On Mascaras

Hey guys, hope your weekend was great, ours was pretty busy and like always way, way, WAY to short. Can't believe it's Sunday already and tomorrow is the start of another week.  I also can't believe that we are about 2 weeks out from school starting here where we live.  Where the hell did this summer go?!

Moving on to a new topic; Mascara!
I never used mascara in middle school or high school, well, unless you count clear mascara.  My mom told me my lashes were long and thick and that I didn't need it.....okay, so flash forward to when I'm 27 and my best friend one night is all......you don't wear mascara? Why? You totally should. I went on to tell her my story about my mom telling me I didn't need it and she did not look amused (ha ha) She insisted I go buy some and try it and so I did and thus, began my mascara adventure turned love affair/obsession.

I'll admit at first I did NOT like it. I didn't like putting it on or the way it looked, but then gradually learning what worked for me and what formulas and wands I preferred all that changed!  And now I am a FIRM believer that mascara can change your whole makeup game.  It just makes everything better. Really....it does.

So here are my thoughts on all the mascaras I've tried so far............

Maybelline The Rocket

Was not my fav. Does give good volume and length, has super cute packaging, but it clumped so so much on me and I'm not big on the clumpy looking lashes. I don't know if it was the formula or the wand or a combination of both but I don't go for super clumpy lashes.
They also have a water proof version and this  mascara retails for $5.93 at Walmart.

Cover Girl Clump Crusher

LOVE this mascara!!!
It holds a curl
Does give some length and volume
Plastic type wand
You can build it up when applying and it won't clump up, so it does live up to its name
I will also layer this on top of other mascaras and it helps tremendously with clumps that way too.
Retails for $4.77 at Walmart.

L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Carbon Black

Love this mascara too,
Not a heavy formula, it's actually a pretty dry formula
Gives good length, not so much volume
Wonderful at separating your lashes!
Nice, skinnier wand
Gives you soft looking lashes in my opinion, very nice
Retails for $7.99 at Walmart

Benefit They're Real

Really  like this mascara
Gives you really great length and volume
Does a descent job at separating
Doesn't clump about 95% of the time, but every once in a while, well.......not necessarily clump but it can look a little thick
Good wand
Retails for $24 at Ulta

NYX The Skinny Mascara

I use this mascara for my lower lashes
I love the super tiny wand
Great at separating your lashes
Every once in a while I will use this on my top lashes to help separate them as well
Retails for $6.99

Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara

Smaller Wand, natural bristle brush
Gives good volume
Gives a little bit of length
Sometimes it will flake and can make your lashes feel hard or crispy.
Its priced really great and it's goof to pair with other mascaras
Retails for $2.99 at Walgreens

L'Oreal Lash Out Butterfly Mascara

Not my favorite
Very Wet formula, really goopy
A lot comes out on the brush
The shape of the brush is unique but does take some getting use to
This mascara always looked hella clumpy on me and I can not stand that.
I know with a lot of people and their reviews of this mascara they either loved it or they hated it. It goes back to whatever your personal preference is.
Me, personally, I didn't like it
It retails at Walmart for $5.12

Rimmel Lash Accelerator

I really enjoy this mascara, if can actually "enjoy" one
It has a nice sized natural bristle brush, not to big or to small. It's bigger slightly in the middle, so it grips your lashes pretty nicely.
Gives more volume than it does length, pretty decent volume.
Doesn't clump or flake
Hold a curl
Great to use alone or to top over another mascara
Retails at Walmart for $7.17

Covergirl Bombshell Volume By Lashblast

This.........this was all the rage when it first came on the market.  Everyone and their mom on YouTube was talking about it, losing their damn minds over it, so naturally I bought in (literally)
and purchased it.....well........let me tell you....
First off, the packaging is super cute and catches your eye it's pink, but also it's HUGE.  You could give someone a concussion with this tube of mascara that's how big it is or it seems that big..........no it's that big.  It has 2 sides to it, the first side has a rubber, spikey wand.  This side gives good volume. I really like the first step or side 1.  The second step or side 2 is shit. I hate it! It's a natural bristle brush, it flakes, it makes your lashes feel really super hard and crispy after you apply it.  I'm talking when you go into kiss your husband or boyfriend or mother you might cut their face open by accident with your lashes after using this step 2 mascara. That's had hard and gross your lashes are. And then they might break off your eye because their so crispy. Also it can get clumpy if your not careful.
Finally this mascara won't come off your eyes.....and I didn't even buy the water proof  one.  It will not come off your eye. You can wash  your face, use eye makeup remover, makeup wipes, coconut oil,  everything. It will not come off, you'll be scrubbing your eyes for 4 days to get this junk off.
Finally thoughts, the side 1 is basically regular Covergirl Lashblast mascara so just buy a regular tube if you were thinking about buying this, because the side 1 is good mascara, side 2...fuck no, it's TERRIBLE!
Retails at Walmart for $8.94

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes

This I really liked.
The packaging is nice, it has a nice little cushion on the handle of the wand where you hold it, thought that was cute and functional.
Gives nice length, not super great at separating, so I wouldn't be heavy handed with it.
Gives good volume in my opinion.  I do know a lot of people complained that the little ball at the end of the wand broke off or was difficult to work with.  I never had a problem and mine never came off.  It made my lashes look super nice.
Retails at Ulta for $24

Too Faced Better Then Sex Mascara

Oh Too Faced, how I love you.  First off, the name, it grabs your attention and I love that.  Second, the packaging it super cute as always, Too Faced rarely disappoints in the cute as hell packaging dept.  The wand is an hourglass shaped wand with natural bristles.
This biz right here, gives intense volume! Intense! Gives good length as well. Can get clumpy super quick if you're not careful, especially if you like to do multiple coats. I find I can do one good coat and I'm happy.
Lashes your lashes touchable, yet looking full, definitely one of my favs!
Retails at Ulta for $23

MAC False Lashes Mascara

I have a sample size of this that I have tried a few times and I have to say it's good.
Gives good volume, okay length, holds a curl pretty well, didn't transfer on me, didn't make my lashes super hard feeling. Has a natural bristle brush.  It's an okay mascara, not bad.
Retails at MAC for $22

And finally my tired and true, my Holly Grail Mascara that I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be without..............................

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes

This mascara.......what can I say that probably hasn't already been  said.  It's beyond amazing.  It gives awesome length, gives insane volume.  It holds a curl for hours.  It's not a huge wand, natural bristle brush.  And Tarte is an all natural makeup brand, they pride themselves on using only natural ingredients, they don't test on animals.  The packaging is unique and shiny purple!
This mascara is just wonderful, I love everything about it and I will never be without it.
When I'm asked what mascara I would recommend to someone I always say this one.  I think it's got everything you need and want in a mascara and it's just incredible.

So, there's my thoughts, my loves and my not so much.
What's your favorite or go too mascara?

Top 5 Foundations I want!!!!!!

Hello again all you beautiful people, how has week been going? Well I hope and I hope today is going hella fantastic for you because it's FRIDAY!!!! And life in general just seems to be a WHOLE lot more livable on Friday.

So, on this lovely (but also hot as Balls out) Friday, I'm bringing you a blog post about the top 5 foundations that I'm absolutely obsessed up and I want them all, which means I'm going to have to shell out a small fortune, because of course they're all mid-high range foundations.
But, I don't care......I love them and I need them in my life!!

Now, first things first, my skin type is normal to sometimes crazy dry, maybe I'm over exaggerating on that...........pretty possible.....but at times that's legit what it feels like.  But, another ipso facto, the quote un quote crazy dryness mainly and only happens when I'm not staying super hydrated and I mean no water, just soda (I'm a die hard Dr. Pepper freak!) or tea or lemonade, which isn't often but when I do need to hydrate stat, I can completely tell, especially just by the look and feel of my skin.

So when I'm doing good and staying ubber hydrated and I'm not all "forget you water, I'm a do what I want, you're not the boss of me" yeah that shit, then my skin is normal, maybe just the slightest bit dry, ever so slightly......what?......I don't know, just go with it.

With my skin type being established, most of these foundations are geared towards normal to dry skin or they at least work really well with dryer skin types.  Not a whole lot of matte going on over here, I wish I could, but I just can't pull that look off.........or maybe I could..........or maybe not.  Anyways... let's just go right ahead and jump into my top 5 foundations I'm pining after.
(this is in no particular order just FYI).

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

This foundation retails for $39
Comes in 18 shades
Has a pump
From most if not all the reviews I read and watched of this foundation it's light coverage but
build-able to medium coverage. Has very nice coverage, but still feels weightless on the skin. Not tacky or heavy feeling and with my skin type, wouldn't have to use a powder with it.

This would probably be a great foundation for the hotter months, since it isn't heavy on the skin, but still has nice coverage!

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation

This foundation retails for $43
Comes in 40 shades
Has a pump
I believe this is replacing the original hd foundation
It is described as having complete, silky coverage while staying comfortable and natural looking.
It lasts really great on the skin.
ALOT of people have said that it's better than the original hd and everyone raved about that one, so this one must be liquid magic infused with unicorn tears or something.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

This retails for $59-$60
Comes in 21 shades
Has a pump
Great for dry skin
Blends well
Build-able coverage
Light weight
Luminous

This one is up there in price, but with quite a few YouTube makeup queens raving about this foundation, I can totally look past that price tag!

Dior Star Fluid Foundation

This foundation retails for $50
Comes in 14 shades
Has a pump
Very nice medium coverage that can be build-able to full coverage, can also be sheered out using a damp beauty blender if you want a lighter coverage. Wonderful lasting power.  Lasts forever on the skin, but not a chore to take off.
Has a nice finish, but does take a bit for this foundation to set.
You only need a very light powder to set this.
Very nice!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

This foundation retails for $39
Comes in 18 shades
Has a pump
Very nice packaging, lovely frosted glass bottle
It's oil free
Has coconut water to replenish moisture
Alpine Rose to brighten and promote elasticity
Hyaluronic  acid for smoother, youthful appearance
Medium to full coverage
Isn't heavy on the skin
Good lasting power
Doesn't separate or oxidize
Has gotten really awesome reviews

And there you have it, the top 5 foundations I am losing my mind over, and yes.....I know they're all high end foundations......and I also know that I don't care.
I can't wait to get them all and try them out.

So tell me, what foundations are you pining after at the moment?

Stay beautiful Y'all

MAC Le Disko Summer Collection: My Wants!

Hey there guys, how's everyone's  summer going? Fast, slow, either way I hope you're enjoying it.

In this post I'm going to talk about the new, well kinda new, maybe new to some MAC Dazzle shadows that came out with the MAC Le Disko collection.  Let's be real for a minute, the collections so far this summer have been on point like craaaaaazy.  The Wash & Dry collection, how adorbs was that packaging the Le Disko collection with the dazzle shadows and dazzle glasses.  Holly shit!!! These dazzle shadows are fucking to die for!!!

They are all BEAUTIFUL, but I'm not jumping to buy the whole collection, let's be real.  Not all of the shades jump out at me demanding my attention, but the ones that do, I'm bout to share with you!!

So the first shade that I'm completely obsessed with, thanks to the lovely Nicole, from +Young Wild and Polished, I watch her on YouTube and follow her on snapchat and she showed this shadow and I just fell in love.......

 MAC She Sparkles

OMG

isn't it phenomenal!!

She Sparkles is described as a light grey with silver sparkles and in the pot it does look greyish maybe even a bit taupe. But swatched on the skin you get so much of that sparkle, mmmmm I love it!

My next fav I have to thank the ever Fabulous MannyMUA for because again I watch him and follow him on snap and he has been pretty much talking none stop about this shadow..........can you all guess which one.........

MAC Boom Boom Room

Yaaaaassssssss!!!

Speaking in all honesty here, I would be totally inclined to buy this shadow because of the name alone.  Boom Boom Room, Hello! Yes please.  It plays into the sexy, fiesty, playful side of me and that color...AH I die!!

Boom Boom Room is described as a light burgundy with emerald sparkle
and My God is it not beyond pretta!
I love it because it's burgundy but very wearable and it's just so beautiful.

MAC Try Me On

Try Me On is described as Deep blue green with sparkles

This one...........this one surprised me. I didn't think this would be one I was drawn to, even with the Queen her self Mrs. Jacklyn Hill talking about this one I was still not completely sold.  But then seeing swatches of it and really looking at the colors and how they mesh together so nicely. I fell....... and I fell hard.  Try Me On, don;t mind if I do!

MAC Can't Stop Won't Stop

Can't Stop Won't Stop is described as a Deep plum purple with sparkles

Ok, First off the name....Oh. My. God. Yes! All of the Yes. Whomever was in charge of naming these shadows, big ups to you because this shiz is on point like a motha. Plus the purple is gorgeous and does not disappoint. Also purple is very wearable and looks good on pretty much everyone.

Not only is it the sparkle and the shades of the shadows that I love but I attest a lot of that love also to the names of the shadows. Boom Boom Room, Can't Stop Won't Stop, um hello seriously?! #winning anyone?  I just can't get over it, that was and is some damn good marketing someone pulled. Hell it's bordering on genius that's how good it is.

So here you have my favorites and soon to be future baby loves in my makeup collection.  All of the shades are Dazzling (haha) pun intended and there's a pretty descent array of colors complete with sparkles. So if sparkle or glitter or metallic shadows aren't your thing then well, clearly Dazzle shadows are not for you.  With that said, on a final note may I just suggest one thing, step outside of your comfort zone, throw caution to the wind and check these shadows out. Find a shade that just calls to you and try it, who knows you might end up loving it!

Stay Beautiful Ya'll
